Intro Student One Student Two

Activity Explanation:

In this activity, each student will take turns reading and responding to sentences based on given topics. The objective is to practice listening, comprehension, and constructing relevant responses that agree with and add to the original statement.

Steps:

  1. Each pair of students will be given a set of topics to discuss.
  2. Student 1 will read a sentence aloud based on the given topic.
  3. Student 2 will listen carefully and respond with a sentence that agrees with and adds more information or perspective to Student 1's sentence.
  4. Students will then switch roles and repeat the process with a new topic.

Example:

Given Topic: Changes Over Time

  • Student 1: "When I was a child, gas was cheap."
  • Student 2: "I agree, it was much more affordable. I remember my parents talking about how much cheaper it was back then."

Given Topic: Technology

  • Student 1: "Nowadays, technology is advancing rapidly."
  • Student 2: "Absolutely, it feels like there's a new gadget or app every week. It's amazing how quickly things change."

By doing this activity, students will improve their ability to listen and respond appropriately in conversations, enhancing both their comprehension and speaking skills in English.
