When we talk about things that we did not long ago, we simply say when we did those things.

  • Yesterday I...
  • Last night I...
  • This morning I...
  • This afternoon I...
  • Today I...
  • Today at school I...

We use the past tense verbs to complete these sentences.

  • Yesterday I ate a hamburger for dinner.
  • Last night I studied English, and watched TV.
  • This morning I walked to school.
  • This afternoon I went on a field trip with my class.
  • Today I played video games.
  • Today at school I made a robot.
