In this lesson you will revise and practice the language forms used to describe data in charts and graphs, using noun phrases, verbs, adverbs and adjectives.

Here are some of the clause structures you can use to describe the data in a graph or chart:

Noun phrase + verb + adjective
The trend in customer numbers was upward.

Noun phrase + verb + adverb
Customer numbers fluctuated slightly.

There + is + [adj + noun] + in + noun phrase
There were considerable fluctuations in customer numbers

Noun phrase + verb
customer numbers fell
