The cities were dirty. There was a lot of garbage. The cities had gates. They had stone walls.
People lived in the country too. They were farmers. They grew food. They cared for the animals. It was a lot of work.
Many people liked art. People made art. They made art using stamps. A picture was made with just stamps. Have you used stamps? It is fun!
People made mosaics. They used glass. They used stones. We can still see them today.
Some buildings had stained glass. The glass was colourful. There were pictures on the glass. They told a story.
There were many famines in history. There was very little food. Food could not grow without water. It could not grow when there was war. It could not grow when it was too cold.
Those were hard times. People were very hungry. Many people died.
There were many plagues. People got very sick. The Black Death was a plague. It killed many people. It was hard to get better.
It has been a long time. People learned a lot. Our cities are cleaner. We know more about plagues. One day, our time now will be history too.
