Where do you live? Many people live in buildings. There are different kinds of buildings. What does your building look like?
Many houses have more than one storey. The first storey usually has a living room and a kitchen. The living room is perfect for relaxing and watching TV. You can play games with your family in the living room too. The kitchen is used to prepare delicious meals.
The second storey has the bedrooms. Different homes have a different number of bedrooms. Some homes might just have one bedroom. Other homes might have five bedrooms. The master bedroom is the biggest bedroom. It also has its own bathroom inside.
If you live in a house, you might have a yard. You can have a beautiful garden. You could grow vegetables, fruits, and flowers. Your friends can come over for a barbecue. Everyone could have a water fight. You can have a lot of fun in your yard.
Apartment buildings are dwellings for many people. There are a lot of homes inside an apartment building. Some people live really high up. They could be up on the thirtieth floor! It is not a good idea to walk all the way up. It would take too long! It would be too tiring too. You can take an elevator. Some elevators only let you get to your floor.
When you live in an apartment, your neighbours will be nearby. Some of your neighbours will be right next door. You might see them in the halls or in the lobby.
Have you seen a skyscraper before? Skyscrapers are very tall, and they look like they can touch the sky. Many skyscrapers have offices inside them. A lot of people work in offices. You might see desks and computers inside an office.
Not all skyscrapers are filled with offices. Some are homes for many people. Their homes could be 400m off the ground! I hope they're not afraid of heights.
