The life cycle of a plant is hard to describe without using complicated, scientific words.
Here are some simple terms that will help you describe the different stages that plants go through as they grow.
Word | Meaning |
---|---|
bloom | To bloom and to blossom are the same thing. |
blossom | When a flower comes out from its bud, this is a blossom. |
disperse | To disperse seeds means to scatter them around. |
fertilizer | Fertilizer is used to give plants extra nourishment and help them grow. Fertilizer is usually brown and looks similar to soil. |
photosynthesis | Photosynthesis is the process in which plants use sunlight to make food. |
sapling | A sapling is a young tree. |
seedling | A seedling is a young plant. |
sprout | When a plant first starts growing out of the ground, that is called sprouting. |
weed | Weeds are bad plants that grow in the wild and take resources away from weaker plants. Gardeners often weed their gardens. That means taking out all the weeds. |
wilt | When a flower dies and bends downwards, that is called wilting. |
