There are many health problems around the world. Some are very serious, and are called 'epidemics.' This is when an illness or disease is spread over a wide space to many people in a community at the same time. Some epidemics last for only a short time. Others are ongoing and getting worse.

In this unit, you did some research on health problems that affect young people in your community. For this project, you will expand upon that research. You will create a presentation and video on a health condition or problem that affects young people in the world. For example, you might choose to focus on obesity, AIDS, blindness, or bullying. There are, unfortunately, many problems to choose from.

Once you have chosen a problem, start researching! Find out all you can about what that problem is. Describe your problem in a creative way! You may want to create a Prezi presentation, draw a comic, or make a video, like this example explaining cancer:

Next, you're going to find out about organizations in your community and around the world that help victims or patients of these problems. What do they do? Here is a video from the UN AIDS organization's campaign, 'Vote to End AIDS.'

Think carefully about the campaigns and programs involved with the topic you have chosen. Sometimes, it's hard to tell whether the campaigns are helpful or not. For example, there are often many products that have the pink ribbon symbol for breast cancer awareness on them.
