Objectives & Sequence: This lesson is intended to be used as a review of Grammar 8-1.
Students work with a partner. In this activity, students are to role-play various situations that involve making requests and asking for permission. Students should open a tab, read the situation, and have a short conversation. They should also make an effort to help each other with the correct grammar to use according to the situation. When finished, they go on to the next tab.
When the activity is finished, a class discussion about each situation would be beneficial to reinforce accuracy of the grammar.
One student works at a coffee shop, and the other student is a customer that wants to order a coffee.
You are friends. One student wants to borrow the other student's car.
You are both on a bus. The bus is full of people. One student is sitting down. The other student is very tired and wants to sit down but there are no seats.
You are roommates. One student is listening to loud music. The other student is trying to study.
You are at a garage. One student is a mechanic. The other student is a customer and wants the mechanic to check a strange noise in the engine.
You are at an auto parts store. One student works at the store. The other student is a customer that needs help choosing the right kind of tires for their car.
