Some polar animals have thick fur. Some have blubber to keep them warm. Some migrate to warm places in the winter. Some hibernate in the winter. Polar animals have adapted to the cold weather.

Look at this snowbank. Can you see any animals hiding here? Some animals hide in the snow. They are the same colour as the snow. Look one more time. Can you see them?

Polar bears live in the Arctic. Polar bears have thick fur to keep them warm. Polar bears hibernate in winter. This means they sleep when it is very cold. They wake up in the spring and hunt for food. They have huge paws to catch their food. Polar bears look cute, but they are dangerous.

Arctic foxes live in the Arctic. They have thick fur to keep warm. They can hide in the snow. They hide to catch their food.

Seals live in the polar regions. Seals have thick blubber to keep them warm. They can dive deep into the ocean to get food. They can swim fast to avoid predators.

Emperor penguins live in the Antarctic. They have thick feathers. They are thick, and fluffy! The thick feathers keep them warm, and dry. Penguins are great swimmers. They can dive deep like a seal. They can swim fast like a seal, too.

These penguins are relaxing on a piece of ice. The ice floats on the ocean. Penguins can rest on the ice. It looks relaxing.

Narwhals live in the Arctic. They are a type of whale with a long tusk. They use their tusks to break ice, and fight. We call narwhals sea unicorns. Do you think narwhals look like unicorns?
