We can order planets starting from the Sun. Some planets are very close to the Sun. These planets are hotter. Some planets are very far from the Sun. These planets are colder.

Earth is not the closest planet to the Sun. It will not be too hot. Earth is not the farthest planet from the Sun. We will not freeze.

Every planet rotates on its axis. One whole turn makes one day. We can see day. We can see night.

Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun. It can be very hot. Mercury can be very cold too. One day on Mercury is 176 Earth days. It takes Mercury 88 days to orbit the Sun. Mercury is the fastest planet.

Mercury has many craters. These craters were made when meteors and other large objects hit Mercury. The impact makes these craters. Our moon has many craters too.

We thought Pluto was the farthest planet from the Sun. But it is a dwarf planet. Neptune is the farthest planet from the Sun. We already learned it is a very cold planet.

Saturn is the 6th planet from the Sun. It takes 11 hours to rotate on its axis. That is a short day! Saturn looks very different from Earth. It has the brightest rings around the planet. The rings are made out of ice and rocks. Some rocks are as big as a house!

Our solar system is very complex. We are always learning more about it. We will find more solar systems. Maybe one day we will live in another solar system. That solar system could be like ours. Or it could be very different. We will have to wait and see.
