Articles are very short, simple words that come before nouns. The articles are:

It is important to know when to use each of these articles. Sometimes, we can also use no articles.
Indefinite Article
The indefinite article is 'a' or 'an.' The word 'indefinite' means something more general, not specific. This is exactly how we use the articles 'a' and 'an' in English.
The articles 'a' and 'an' can be used before singular count nouns, like:
- a book
- a table
- a country
We use 'an' with nouns that start with vowels (a, e, i, o, u) and 'a' with nouns that start with consonants (all other letters).
- an apple
- a giraffe
- an eggplant
