How can we plan a celebration that everyone will enjoy?

Possible Idea: Class Celebration

Activities:

  • Brainstorm themes and activities for a class celebration (e.g., games, songs, decorations).
  • Assign roles: planners, decorators, and activity leaders.
  • Create invitations, decorations, and a simple schedule for the event.
  • Invite members of the community to join the class celebration, too, if possible.
  • Reflect on what made the celebration fun and meaningful.

What makes celebrations special?

Possible Idea: Celebration Scrapbook

Activities:

  • Each student contributes a page about a celebration they enjoy (e.g., birthdays, cultural holidays, or graduations).
  • Include drawings, photos, or descriptions of favorite foods, traditions, and activities.
  • Compile the pages into a class scrapbook to share with families from school or the community.
  • An expansion idea is to collect this information from members of the community in order to highlight local or family celebrations, too.

How can we make celebrations more colourful and fun?

Possible Idea: Party Designer

Activities:

  • Students design and create their own party hats or decorations using craft materials.
  • Incorporate symbols or colours related to specific celebrations (e.g., stars for New Year, balloons for birthdays).
  • Display their creations during a classroom party or event.
  • Create guidelines on how other people can make these decorations for themselves.
