Students work in pairs and discuss the meanings of the following sentences. Who would say this? Why? Where? When?
- You're going to have health problems in the future. (A doctor would say this after doing tests on a patient.)
- You will have health problems in the future. (A concerned person would say this to persuade their spouse to quit smoking.)
Remember, if you can see the future because of evidence, we use "be going to." If you can't see the future, but you use your opinion or feeling to predict it, we use "will."
