Get into groups and get out the notes you took on Animal Farm for Chapters 8-10. Go through your notes and discuss them in great detail, being sure to add to your own notes if needed. Try to consider the following questions as you talk:
- What messages do you see in this section of the novel? Is there something the author is trying to teach us about?
- The collapse of the original society imagined by the animals is complete. Which animals are contented, which ones are now oppressed, and which group does not seem bothered by their oppression? Is this what generally happens in human society?
- Discuss whether or not the events in the book could happened in another way such that the farm ends up achieving its goal of an idyllic world for animals to live in harmony and peace. Is this a realistic goal? What prevents it in our society?
