Objectives & Sequence: This activity is intended to be used as a review of Grammar 3-3.
Students work in pairs and open the corresponding pages below. The activity is done in two parts. In the first part, Student One is given six sentences. Student One first reads one of the sentences. Student Two then asks a question (provided on their page) about it. Student One must create an answer in the passive voice to Student Two's question. Suggested answers are provided on Student Two's page in the event Student One is unsure. In the second part of the activity, roles are reversed.
On Student One's Page: The helicopter pilot injured himself during the autorotation.
On Student Two's Page: What happened to the pilot? (Possible answer: He was taken to the hospital.)

Part One
Read these sentences to your partner. He or she will then ask you about them.
- I tried to go to the Airport Operations Center, but the door was locked.
- When I got to the aircraft parking area this morning, their was fuel under the aircraft.
- The crash crew ran out of foam.
- Hundreds of people were waiting outside the aircraft after the evacuation.
- I went to inspect the runway, but I couldn't get by the disabled aircraft.
- We couldn't take the normal road to airport due to the flooding.

Ask the questions below about your partner's sentences:
- What happened to the aircraft when it was snowing?
- Possible answer: It slid off the end of the runway.
- What happened to the hijacker?
- Possible answer: She was taken to the police station.
- Why could the aircraft not land?
- Possible answer: Because of the severe weather.
- Why did the pilot have difficulty landing?
- Possible answer: Because of the 40 knot wind shear.
- What happened when the aircraft overshot the runway?
- Possible answer: It crashed into the perimeter fence.
- Why didn't I have to turn the runway lights on?
- Possible answer: The runway was closed.
