Let’s review the way we format the past simple. Just like the present continuous, the past continuous is the auxiliary verb “be” + the base verb + ing. Do not forget to conjugate the “be” verb into past tense.

Notice that, unlike in past simple, we do not need to change the base verb if it’s regular or irregular.
