The TOEFL ITP (Institutional Testing Program) is a version of the Paper-Based TOEFL (PBT) tests used to evaluate the English-language ability of non-native speakers. The TOEFL ITP does not provide an official test score that can be used for university admission, but instead offers test-takers an estimate of how well they may perform in a English university setting. It consists of the following sections:

The third, and officially the final, section of the TOEFL ITP test is called Reading Comprehension. You will be presented with five reading passages from 150 to 350 words each and a total of 50 questions. You will have 55 minutes to complete all of the questions in this section. All questions are Multiple-Choice with four possible answers. Generally, the questions will test the following areas:
- Vocabulary
- Referents
- Main Ideas
- Organization and Purpose
- Inference
- Details and Supporting Information
It is important to remember that all of the 8-12 questions for each passage are presented in the same order as the information in the passage and should be answered in the order of the reading.
