This is a general introduction to the second part of the speaking test. It tells you what to expect and how best to prepare for and give your presentation.

What happens in this part of the test?

In this part of the test the examiner will hand you a card which asks you to talk about a particular topic and includes points to cover. The task will look like this:

Describe a place you have lived in that you particularly liked.

You should say:

  • when you lived there
  • who you lived with
  • what was so memorable about this place
  • and explain why you liked it so much

What am I being tested on?

This part of the test focuses on your ability to speak at length on a topic. You are also being tested on your use of appropriate language, and if you can organise your ideas coherently.
