Negative

The present simple positive describes what is true or what you do. Present simple negative is the opposite. It describes what is not true or what you do not do.

Lamps give light.  Lamps do not clean people.
Showers clean people.  Showers do not give light.

 I sleep in my bed.    I do not sleep in the kitchen.
 I cook pizza in the kitchen.    I do not cook pizza in my bed.

 Now, work in a group and write:

  • One not true sentence
  • One what you do not do sentence

Form 

A present simple positive sentence with I, you, we, they, and plural nouns use the form: Subject+Verb

   
   

I write in English.

For negative, you need to put do not in front of the verb: Subject+do not+Verb

I do not write in Italian.

   
   

A present simple positive sentence with he, she, it, and a name uses the form: Subject+Verb+S

  • Ben writes in English.

For negative, you need to put does not in front of the verb: Subject+does not+Verb

  • Ben does not write in Italian.
  • I, you, we, they, and plurals use the just verb: Subject+Verb
    • use the sink.
  • He, she, it, and a name uses the verb with an s: Subject+Verb+S 
    • Maria uses the sink.
