Part One: Warm Up
With a partner or group, try to tell a strange or funny story. It can be real or not. Do not worry about grammar or mistakes.
- What happened?
- Where did it happen?
- Who was in the story?
- Was it strange? Was it funny?
- How did you hear about the story? Did it happen to you? Did you hear it on the news? From a friend?
Part Two: Listening
Exercise
Open Exercise #1 to begin the activity. Follow the instructions in the document. Then, go on to Exercise #2.

My friend and I were on vacation, and we rented bicycles. We tried to find a beach we'd read about in a guide, but my friend crashed her bike and hurt her leg. Luckily, a kind woman picked us up. We found the beach the next day.

One day, Yolanda heard a strange sound outside her window, so she looked around her house.
She found a cute kitten.
Yolanda brought the kitten home and gave it food.
In the end, she decided to keep the kitten.

Greg woke up late. He fell down the stairs. Next, he ran to catch the bus, but he missed it. He called a taxi, and it was expensive. Then, Greg dropped his wallet on the street and lost it. He was one hour late for work.

One day, a bear walked into our town. The bear ate a lot of garbage and made a mess. The police tried to scare the bear away, but it climbed up a tree. The fire department helped the bear down and took the bear back to the forest.
