Part One
Look at the following list of activities. For you, which are still happening, which happened before but are now finished, and which have never happened?
- study English
- go to high school
- play a musical instrument
- live in another country
- have a boyfriend / girlfriend
- smoke
- go to university
- play a sport regularly
- be married
- visit another country
- have short hair
- use an iPhone
- drive a car
- drink coffee
- live with your grandparents
Part Two
Now, ask your partner about their experiences using the actions in the table. There are three ways the conversation can go:
Still Happening
- Have you ever studied English?
- Yes, I have.
- How long have you studied English?
- I have studied English since middle school.
Happened, But Finished
- Have you ever studied English?
- Yes, but I don’t study it anymore.
- How long did you study English?
- I studied English for four years.
Never Happened
- Have you ever studied English?
- No, I have not.
- Why not?
- I don’t like it. English makes me crazy!
