In pairs students will ask their partners what they do when certain things happen. Each question has one follow up.

What do you do when you’re tired?

When I’m tired, I go to bed.

What do you do if you’re tired, but you have to study?

If I’m tired, and I have to study, I take a short nap and then study.

  1. You are out of gas.
    • You don’t have any money.
  2. You are late.
    • Your phone is dead.
  3. You want to borrow your mom’s car.
    • She’s still mad at you for coming home late last night.
  4. You have an important test.
    • You forget your pen.
  5. Your parents are angry at you.
    • You didn’t do anything wrong.
  6. It’s snowing.
    • You don’t have a heater in your car.
  7. You go to your friend’s house.
    • Your friend isn’t home.
  8. You dropped your keys in the dark.
    • You don’t have a flashlight.
  1. You want to see your friends.
    • Everyone is busy.
  2. It’s raining.
    • You need new windshield wipers.
  3. You get on the bus or train.
    • There are no empty seats.
  4. You drive to school.
    • The parking lot is full.
  5. You see a policeman.
    • The policeman is coming over to you.
  6. You fall on the street.
    • Many people see you fall.
  7. You have some free time.
    • Your brother is being very noisy.
  8. Your cell phone rings.
    • Your cell phone rings while you’re driving.
