A conclusion is the last paragraph of the essay. It should re-state the topics from each paragraph, and bring them all together to form the main idea of the essay. This means that the thesis statement should be repeated (but in a different way).
Conclusion
Student Example #1
In conclusion, a coeducational system is better than a single gender education system from the viewpoint of gender equality, sentimental education, sanitation and violence. Generally speaking, coeducational class makes students more considerate, positive, clean and kind. A coeducational system offers students more time to understand both genders. Also, coeducation makes students more clean than single gender classes because the students in coeducational classes want to maintain a good impression for another gender. Finally, the students in coeducational classes tend to be more gentle than the students who are in single gender classes, regardless of gender. It means the students in the coeducational classes are far from violence.
While it’s not perfect grammatically, this conclusion is good because it re-states all the important aspects of the essay. The first sentence is similar to the thesis statement, and the last sentence and brings in something new (the part about violence.) We can call this last sentence “the kicker,” because it leaves you with something to think about.
Student Example #2
I learned from that experience that I should confront things and try hard, and that success is not important in the end. The important thing is trying. I have to rise above my place, try and take initiative. Because trying itself means success.
This example is okay, but it needs more details. I don’t know what “that experience” is. The student should have re-stated the details. However, the last sentence (kicker) is really good. It leaves readers with something to think about, and brings all details together.
