Everybody loves to meet up with friends and family. One reason to meet up is for a celebration. A celebration is a special time. We enjoy these special times by having fun with people.
Some repeat every year. Christmas is every year. People eat a big meal with family. They give gifts and spend time with others.
Some happen once. Your graduation is when you finish school. It is a day to remember how hard you worked.
Many people have a wedding when they get married. A wedding is a big event. They invite friends and family. There is lots of food. There is lots of dancing. There is lots of fun.
Couples have an anniversary every year. It is the day they were married. They remember why they got married.
What do you do on your birthday? It is a great time to have a party. We have a birthday every year. It is the day of our birth.
What about your country’s national day? National days are to remember the past. We remember what our country has done. We remember what others did for us.
In Canada, we have Canada Day. It is on July 1st. People call it Canada's birthday. People do not go to school or work.
Your area may have a local day. It is like a national day, but for a town or city. It brings people closer. It is a happy day.
April Fool’s Day is a fun day. It is on April 1st. On April Fool’s Day, we play tricks on people. These tricks are called pranks.
Do you know Mother’s Day or Father’s Day? We have these days to say thank you to our parents. We show them how important they are. We say thank you for everything that they do for us.
There are different celebrations all over the world. Do you know any?
