In Grammar 9-1, we studied the three main kinds of conditional sentences in English.

We studied that the Second Conditional is used for the Present or Future.

  • If I had more money, I would pay for med school in cash.  (Present / Future)
  • If I were you, I wouldn't be diagnosing that.  (Present)
  • If my country adopted a better health care system, I would be so proud.  (Future)

We studied that the Third Conditional is used for the Past.

  • If the patient had had breakfast this morning, we could not have done the surgery.  (Past)
  • If it had rained yesterday, the ER would have been busier.  (Past)

In Grammar 9-2, we are going to learn that Second and Third Conditional Sentences can sometimes work together.
