Modal verbs can also be used to talk about the future. The modals are all the same, but when we are talking about the future we can also use will as a modal.

  • I might go to the zoo
  • I will go to the zoo

The structure for these sentences is exactly the same as with present modals, but sometimes there are extra words that show the sentence is about the future, like 'soon' or 'this Friday,' for example.

Subject Modal Verb
I, You, He, She, It, We, You, They may adopt a dog next weekend!

You can also create future modal sentences using 'be' and the present participle, as well.

Subject Modal Be Present Participle
I, You, He, She, It, We, You, They could be moving to a new house soon.
