Modals

Modal verbs are special verbs that are used differently in English. You learned about them in unit 4, but let's look at a few examples of modals to help you remember:

  • must
  • should
  • could
  • have got to
  • ought
  • might

You might have noticed that some of these modals are longer. The longer ones, such as "have got to," are called phrasal modals.
