Ancient Egyptians are famous. They are known for their writing. They are known for their drawings. They are known for their pharaohs. But they are most known for the pyramids.

Ancient Egyptians were strong. They were rich. They built big structures for the pharaohs. They were called pyramids.

There are around 118 pyramids. Most are in ruin. Some are only rubble. But some are intact.

The most famous pyramid is the Great Pyramid of Giza. It is near the city of Cairo. If you visit Egypt, you can see it.

Pyramids were not easy to build. They did not have any machines. They had to build them by hand. Some say that they took 20 years to build.

Some say that 100,000 people built them. But we are not sure who they were. Some say that it was slaves. Some say that it was paid workers.

Inside the pyramids, there were rooms. The rooms were used as tombs. When a pharaoh died, they were put in a coffin. Coffins were left in the pyramids. They were beautiful. Some would shine. They were made from gold.

Pharaohs were buried with their belongings. They were left with money. They were left with gifts. They thought that they needed them after death. They thought they would help them.

Pyramids don't contain bodies or riches now. Lots of things were stolen from them. Thieves used to rob artifacts. They were worth a lot of money.

Most artifacts are in Egypt. But some can be found in museums around the world. Some coffins can be found in museums too.

Millions of people visit the pyramids today. They teach us lots about Ancient Egyptians. But they still conceal many mysteries. Who built them? How long did it take? Maybe we will never know.
