6-3 Describing Photos

Objectives & Sequence: This lesson is intended to be used as a review of Grammar 6-1.

Intro Student One Student Two

Students work with a partner and open the coresponding tabs.

This activity has eight turns. Student One has a different photo for turn #1, #3, #5, and #7. Conversely, Student Two's photos are for turns #2, #4, #6, and #8.

If it is Student One's turn, Student Two must ask two questions to Student One asking to describe the photo. These questions are:

What’s in the picture?
What are they doing?

Student One answers these questions paying special attention to the correct usage of a/an/some, the, or no article.

Student Two then asks two more questions that he or she creates. These questions should also focus on correct article usage. After Student One has answered these questions, students go onto the next turn in which the roles are reversed.

Example

Student Two starts the round by asking Student One the two questions:

What’s in the picture?

There are some people in a room.

What are they doing?

A woman is crying and the other people are helping her.

What kind of room is it?

I think it’s an office.

Who are the people?

I think they work in the office.
