This is to give you practice answering questions during the extended talk (Part 2) and answering follow-up questions (Part 3) of the Speaking Test.
Before practicing Part 2 and Part 3, listen to an example of someone doing a long turn and answering extended questions on the topic of education. Then answer the questions in the Exercise.
Part 2: practice
Describe a teacher that you remember from school:
You should say:
- what the teacher taught you
- what was good about the teacher
- what you didn’t like about the teacher
- and say if you think this teacher changed your life in any way
Part 3: practice
Before you practice these questions, think about what you have to do to answer them: give an explanation? Speculate about the future? Make a comparison?
- What types of schools are there in your country?
- What types of exams do students have to take in your country?
- Why are exams considered to be important in education?
- Do you think that exams are a good way to measure achievement?
- What are the differences between the educational system in this country and your own country?
- Which skills do you think will be most in demand in the future?
- Do you think all education will eventually be done on the internet, or does the classroom still have a role to play?
