Use
We use the Present Continuous to talk about actions happening now:
The phone's ringing!
Mark is speaking to his mom on the phone.
We are listening to the teacher.
They aren't watching a movie.
Have + things / family members is not an action. Do not use the Present Continuous for this meaning:
- I am having two brothers.
- I have two brothers.
- I am having a new car.
- I have a new car.

Double the consonant and add ing if the verb ends with one stressed vowel and a consonant:
- run → running
- stop → stopping
- swim → swimming
If the vowel is not stressed, or there is more than one vowel, do not double the consonant:
- open → opening
- meet → meeting
