Part One: Warm Up

Discuss the following questions with your partner(s).

  1. Have you ever thought about studying abroad? If so, where would you like to study? If not, why not?
  2. How do you think going to university abroad is different from going to university in your home country? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each?
  3. What do you think international students need to do to prepare to study abroad?

Part Two: Getting Ready to Speak

In Use of English 2-1, you learned to use sequence adverbs and imperative verbs to give instructions. You also learned how to clarify and confirm when giving and receiving instructions. 

In this lesson, you are going to learn how to add details and clear references to your instructions and then give instructions to a classmate on how to prepare to study abroad.
