Listen and read along to these sentences.

Many places in the world rely on coal, oil, and gas for energy to run cars and trucks. However, these fuel sources are quickly running out.

In addition, there are several ways that these fuel sources create pollution. Burning fossil fuels releases carbon dioxide into the air, which is a major contributor of greenhouse gases.

Greenhouse gases stay in the atmosphere and prevent heat from escaping the Earth like a big, invisible blanket. This phenomenon is known as global warming.

Other energy sources, such as nuclear reactors, can also contribute to pollution. On occasion, toxic waste from these reactors can leak into the environment and poison our food and water.

Practice reading those sentences aloud and record your voice or say the sentences out to your class.
