Facts and Non-Facts

English tense can be divided into two different categories: tenses that are used to describe facts, and those that are used to describe non-facts.

Facts can be considered to be real or very possible:

  • I work at a gas station.  I do not make much money.  If I can get a better job, I'll take it.
