Noun clauses are groups of words within a sentence referring to a fact or idea. A noun clause acts as a noun in a sentence.
- I know that you didn’t mean to do it, but I’m afraid that’s not so obvious to others.
- I understand what you are saying even though I disagree with it.
- How well we do remains to be seen. That depends on all of us.
Noun clauses normally refer to abstractions, ideas, processes, events, facts, rather than people or things.
