In English sentences, subjects are used to express the person or thing that is ‘doing’ the action. An object is a person or thing that receives the action of the verb. It is important to understand the difference and be able to locate them within in a sentence.
In Active sentences, the subject is usually before the verb and the object is placed after the verb. Remember that some verbs are intransitive (wake up, go, stand up) which means that they do not take an object.

There are two types of Objects: Direct and Indirect.
The Direct Object can be placed after the Indirect Object, or before the Indirect Object which is used with the preposition ‘to’
He gave me the pen.
He gave the pen to me.
