Okay everyone, listen closely. The first part of our lecture today is going to be about road safety for pedestrians. When you walk in the street, you're in danger. It is very important for you to be aware of what's happening around you, and always keep safety first. The first thing to remember is if you walk on a busy road, stay on the sidewalk. The sidewalk is there to keep drivers and pedestrians apart. You will be safer there. The second thing to remember is wear bright clothes. When you don't wear bright clothes, drivers don't see you. Wear bright clothing during the day, and clothing that reflects light at night. You can also carry a flashlight in dark areas. The last advice is to always be alert when you cross the street. It is much easier for you to see a car than for a driver to see you. If it is possible, make eye contact with the driver before you cross a street so you can be sure they know you are there. Remember, you are responsible for your safety.

Okay, the second part of our lecture is for when you are driving. When you drive, you are responsible. The first and most important rule is to keep your eyes open for pedestrians. You should always be watching when you drive. Don't text, talk on the phone, eat, or do anything else to distract yourself. If you see pedestrians, slow down and make sure they have lots of space. The second thing to think about is driving at night and in bad weather. When it's hard to see, take extra care. You should drive more slowly than you usually do. The last thing to be careful about is crosswalks. Many accidents happen at crosswalks when people don't follow the rules. Be extra careful in these situations. Give pedestrians enough space and time to cross safely. Slow down and take care.
