
You will be able to
- demonstrate an understanding of the content of an interactive video explaining how to tell a joke;
- identify different parts of a question and answer joke;
- respond appropriately to jokes that you have/haven’t understood;
- demonstrate listening comprehension and a knowledge of basic writing conventions by completing dictations of several punchlines of simple jokes;
- demonstrate understanding of some basic vocabulary connected to some simple jokes;
- tell several jokes of your own choosing showing that you've understood and can follow some cultural rules around joke-telling;
- read, listen to, and demonstrate understanding of an article describing the importance of collocations in vocabulary building;
- identify and use common collocations when telling a joke;
- correct some common collocation errors;
- compare the role of humor in your culture with that of the US;
- reflect on your learning in a written/oral journal format.
