Unit Objectives

Develop a positive attitude towards yourself as an English Language Learner.
Begin to speak in more detailed sentences.

Practice appropriate game behaviour, such as taking turns, being patient, allowing others to win.
Practice listening to each other, learn about what’s important to others.
Talk about spring weather, bugs, plants and mud.
Compare oneself to plants that grow.

Learn to identify, understand and use simple practical language to express oneself, and learn to be polite.
Begin to acquire the most basic reading and writing skills at the level of individual letters and sounds, through letter formation and identification.
Begin to acquire a bank of vocabulary and phrases to use in daily life through speaking, acting, and singing.
Increase bank of phrases and sentences such as simple prepositional phrases and comparative adjectives.

Identify and practice simple phrases:

Lesson 3 Mud and Dirt	Muddy, dirty, clean, puddles, compost I like mud/ I don’t like mud. Mud on my pants. Mud in my shoes. Mud under my nails. Mud around my ears. Mud between my toes. (prepositions of location)
Lesson 4 Planting and Growing	Seeds, seedling, flower, root, stem, plant, fruit It grows. Water makes it grow. Sun makes it grow. It is ____ tall. It was ___ tall. I grow. I am ___ tall. I was ____ tall.
