Use

We use the Present Simple to talk about usual actions, habits, routines, etc.:

I wake up early every day. 

Susan is a teacher. She teaches young children.

Birds fly.

My mother cooks delicious food.

I watch TV after dinner.

I work a lot.

We use always / often / usually / sometimes / never + Present Simple:

Sometimes, it rains a lot here.

He usually drives fast.

I never cook.

verb + s

  • Mike wakes up...
  • She speaks...
  • It snows...

Spelling: Rule #2

If a verb ends in ss, x, sh or ch, add es:

  • kiss → kisses
  • fix → fixes
  • wash → washes
  • watch → watches

Spelling: Rule #3

If the verb ends with a consonant + y, change y to ies:

  • fly → flies
  • study → studies

If the verb ends with a vowel + y, only add s:

  • play → plays
  • say → says

Go becomes goes and do becomes does:

  • go → goes
  • do → does
