Intro Student One Student Two

Students work with a partner. Each partner opens the corresponding page.

In Part One of the activity, Student One is presented with eight countable or uncountable nouns (prompts). Student Two is presented with eight photos. Students have a conversation using the prompts and the information presented in the photos. For each prompt, there are three ways the conversation can go (examples below).

In Part Two, roles are reversed.

Example #1: A Few / A Little

Student One's Word: Towels

Student Two's Photo

Are there any towels?

Yes, there are.

Are there many towels?

No, there aren't. There are a few towels.


Example #2: A Lot

Student One's Word: Rice

Student Two's Photo

Is there any rice?

Yes, there is.

Is there much rice?

Yes, there is. There is a lot of rice.


Example #3: Not Any

Student One's Word: Tomatoes

Word = tomatoes

Student Two's Page:

Are there any tomatoes?

No, there aren't.
