Prepare before the Lecture
Generally speaking, most lectures in a course syllabus will have a title, and perhaps even a brief description. Before attending a lecture, students should know the title and topic of the talk in order to predict the content of the lecture and anticipate its organization.
Anticipate What's Next
It is important for students to predict the content and anticipate what the speaker will say next in order to listen effectively. By anticipating the content, students will actively listen and remain engaged with the lecture and, therefore, will be less likely to let their attention drift and miss a key point.
