Who doesn't love to play games? Today, you will have a chance to make up your own board game! To keep things simple, we will be making a question and answer game. In this game, players will have to pick up cards and answer questions.

But the rest is up to you! What does the game board look like? What happens when players answer questions correctly? What happens when they answer them incorrectly? Do you need dice? Are there shortcuts on the board? Are there instructions written on each square? Are there any secret traps? How do you win the game? Here is what you will need to do to make your game:

  • Theme
    • First, choose a theme for the game. All your questions and your game board will use this theme. You can choose any theme that interests you! For example, your game can be about sports, movies, food, etc.
  • Rules
    • Next, you will need to write a list of rules for how to play the game. Write them step by step. For example:
      1. All players start on the green square.
      2. The youngest player goes first.
      3. The player must draw a card from the pile and answer a question.
      4. If the player answers correctly, he or she can roll the dice and move that number of squares.
      5. If the player does not answer correctly, he or she must draw from the pile of red cards.
      6. The red cards will tell the player something silly to do, like stand up and sing a song.
      7. ...
  • Questions
    • The most important part of your game will be the questions. Open up the questions document. Write at least 20 questions about your theme and answers for each question. Here are some examples for a game with a 'basketball' theme:
      • Question: Which basketball player is nicknamed 'Air Jordan?'
        • Answer: Michael Jordan
      • Question: What is the name of the NBA team that plays in Houston, Texas?
        • Answer: Houston Rockets
      • Question: How many points is a slam dunk worth?
        • Answer: 2 points
  • Game Board
    • Now that you have finished making the rules and the questions, it is time to design your game board. You can go to Board Maker and create game paths related to theme by clicking the "create game board" link. Or you can design your own!
  • Play!
    • Now the most important step...find some friends and get playing! Enjoy your game!
