For your Unit 3 writing assignment, you are going to write a paragraph describing a natural disaster. Be sure to follow the basic paragraph structure that you learned in Unit 1:
Paragraph Structure
Topic Sentence
- The main idea of your paragraph will be in this sentence. In a description, the main idea should be a feeling you get from the topic. For example, was it scary, was it beautiful, etc.
Supporting Sentences
- Describe the event to help the reader imagine what it looked like, sounded like, felt like, etc.
- Use adjectives, specific nouns, and prepositional phrases.
- Give as much information as you can.
Concluding Sentence
- A final sentence that expresses how you feel about the event or why the event was important.
