Parts of speech
Reading is a great way to improve your overall English skill, but when reading, you will eventually find a word or phrase that you will not understand. To help improve what we comprehend when we read, we can use grammatical cues to help find meaning. Even if we do not understand some vocabulary, based on where it is in the sentence, we can determine the part of speech. Knowing the part of speech can help us make a guess to what the word might mean.
Noun: A person, place, thing, or idea
Nouns are the subjects or objects of a sentence.
