We use different vocabulary to describe trees and flowers. Although trees are all different, most share a lot of common features. First, here are some words that are important to know when talking about trees.

arboreal | Arboreal means about trees. It is often used to describe animals: An arboreal animal is an animal that lives in trees. |
deciduous | A deciduous tree is one that loses its leaves in the winter every year. |
evergreen | An evergreen tree is a tree that does not lose its leaves every year. Evergreen trees are green all year long. |
Here are words to use when describing parts of trees.
Moss is green and can grow on trees.
The trunk is the main stem of a tree.
The bark is the outside of the trunk.
Tree sap is the liquid that comes out from trees.
Lumber is the wood that we get from trees.
A twig or stick is a small branch from a tree.
Tree rings are the circles in tree trunks. You can tell how old a tree is by counting the rings.
