What's in our solar system? Here are some words that will help you remember the different components of our solar system.
The space that exists between the stars, planets, and Earth.
A solar system includes a sun (star) and all the planets/objects that orbit around it.
A dark spot on the sun's surface.
The galaxy is a huge collection of stars that are all gravitationally bound to each other. There are many galaxies in space.
The universe is a term describing everything in existence. This means all the stars, planets, solar systems, and galaxies that we know and don't know to exist.
The milky way is the galaxy that our solar system belongs in.
A distinct period of time of something. The moon has phases where it looks different in each one.
The phase of the moon in which the whole disc is shining, lit up by the sun.
The phases of the moon in which only a part of the moon is lit by the sun, giving it the appearance of a "C" shape.
Constellations are make-believe patterns in the sky you see when you connect the stars.
