Using Indefinite Articles

We use indefinite articles like 'a' and 'an' to introduce nouns. That means we are talking about something we haven't mentioned yet.

  • Have you seen a red car parked on this street?
  • I have a piano at my house.
  • Sheila made a bad mistake.

Remember, we can also use 'some' or no article to do the same thing with plural nouns and noncount nouns.

  • I have seen some raccoons in this neighbourhood.
  • They have some pianos in the store.
  • Sheila spilled some water on her computer.
