For your third Presentation, you'll be given an article by your teacher. It will be presented in groups of two or three students, depending on your class and again, you will need to choose your partner or partners and let your teacher know before you begin your work.

searching articles

You will be assigned one of the 7 links below and must use that article, and that article only, for your next presentation. They are all from Scientific American.

With your group, read your article completely and take notes on it. You do not need to bring it to your teacher for approval but should still prepare a Thesis Statement to help clarify your understanding. Check your schedule for when your Outline is due.

As before, it's important that your presentation must not simply repeat the ideas from the article. Your article has too much information in it and may not be in the best order for a presentation format. Therefore, it's up to you to choose what from the article gets presented and what does not. Remember, it must be easy for your audience to understand and take notes on.

This Presentation will also be 7-8 minutes long and as before, you will not be able to use any visual aids such as pictures or graphs. You will only be able to use the notes you prepare. Using the Outline structure organizer, begin to put your ideas in order. Be sure to follow the structure you have learned up to this point. Add more paragraphs to your presentation if you need to. Remember, there should be no sentence structure at all. Only put in notes as if you were taking notes on a Listening passage.

Once you finish your Outline, you'll need to practice your Presentation many times and make changes to your outline as you go. Time yourself to be sure your Presentation does not go over the 7-8 minutes. Each presenter must speak at least two times, so you need to decide who is doing which part. You can not simply divide the Presentation into two parts and work independently.

You must also create 5 questions that need you will ask the audience after your Presentation. The audience must take notes on your Presentation while you deliver it so that they are prepared to answer your questions. Make sure each question is asking for a long answer. For example, do not have the following exchange:

How old was I when I began playing guitar?

12

Yes. Next question.

The questions should test the audience on their listening ability. Make sure any open or opinion questions are asked at the end of all your questions. Test them first on the details of your Presentation. Write your questions with the answers.
