This is the planet Earth. We humans live here. We live all over the Earth. Plants, trees, and animals live here, too. The Earth has many wonderful places. Some places are hot and dry. Some places are warm and wet. Some places are cold and frozen.

This is the equator. It is in the middle of the planet. Above the equator is the north. Below the equator is the south. At the top is the North Pole. At the bottom is the South Pole. These are the polar regions. They are the coldest places on Earth.

These polar regions are interesting. In some months there is sun all day. It is always daytime. People see the sun all day.

In some months there is no sun all day. It is always nighttime. People don't see any sun all day.

Is there life in the polar regions? Yes, there is! There are not many plants in the polar regions. There are some animals in the polar regions. Some animals live on land. Some animals live in the water. There are some people who live in the polar regions. These people are very good at living in frozen places.

The polar regions can be beautiful. These are the northern lights. These are the southern lights. We can see these lights in the polar regions. They look like a rainbow. Have you seen them? One day I will visit the polar regions to see the lights.
